gift ideas: Astier de Villatte

Astier de Villatte makes the most beautiful ceramics- every piece feels special. Each piece begins with black earthenware that is then formed by hand (no rollers, etc.) ... and then covered in porcelain. In the past, we have shared a video a friend of ours made on Ivan Pericoli and Benoit Astier de Villatte- the two founders. What we love about these two is their sense of inventiveness- they are always adding in something unexpected (like Marie Antoinette's head on a dish as an incense holder... or a series of Snoopy objects and dishes)... which makes their whole selection of ceramics so interesting and desirable.  We just received a large (very large) shipment from them- just in time for the holidays. These pieces make such great gifts- a piece is wonderful on its own... and it's also fun to add to a loved one's collection with a piece that feels special to you. We received a large amount of beautiful platters, bowls, mugs, pedestal dishes (including a two tier and three tier- not shown here), little dishes, platters with feet, tiny dishes with John Derian roses printed on them- to use as spoon rests, jewelry trays, coasters, you name it... also pendant light fixtures... and a large range of new incense. How incredible is the long fish platter in the picture above with the little staffordshire-like statue on it!? There is also on slightly bigger- a shark platter! We are blown away in awe every time! <3
