We have an affinity for chemises de nuit - the linen is so beautiful, the monograms and details are so sweet and the cuts and fit are easy and look good on many different body types. We have been collecting these for years, and presenting them at the shop once we have a nice collection. These were originally intended as nightwear, the monograms important for identifying who they belonged to... as they were washed at the public bath and hung up to dry. Sometimes we find a collection of multiples with the same monogram - all from one person's wardrobe. We are always excited to find them - each one is so special in it's simplicity and many times intricate detailing in the monogram and neckline. The sewing was done in part by hand - the work is just incredible. Our collection is all in beautiful condition. We will be careful to point out any irregularities or signs of wear that stand out, but small signs of wear are part of the beauty of these pieces. Each chemise de nuit is listed separately, with individual measurements. We wear these as dresses. They can be layered with a tee, sweater or button down shirt underneath. We love to wear them with the Pip Squeak Chapeau boy shirts in white or midnight, depending on the style of the chemise.
This one has the initials LH, and the number 33 embroidered at front center (there is also the LH 6 in a separate listing from the same original owner <3 ... note - the measurements are slightly different). It also has a drawstring at the neck that can be cinched in for a different look.
