We are very excited for the arrival of our Puff Dress. This is a piece I drew out years ago and finally the finished pieces are here :) Sometimes pieces live as drawings for a long time before deciding to make patterns and samples as was the case with this piece. I took last year to wear and test out the final samples of this dress through the summer and it was a favorite piece of mine. I wore it all the time- from day to night... it was a go to for me. It is an oversized piece with lots of room between the body and the dress. The sleeves are big and puffy - I rolled the sleeves a bit when I wore it. It has four covered buttons down the front, gathering around the neck and side seam pockets. The fabric is a beautiful Japanese cotton typewriter cloth. It has the most beautiful crispness in the fineness of the fabric. We have made it available in our online shop in navy and black <3

Classic white shirts are a favorite of ours. They are great for layering in the winter and are of course a go to in the Spring and Summer. We have a few variations available at the shop, shown above. One is the classic white linen button down by Pip Squeak Chapeau in the second, third and fourth pictures. This is stunning- it can be worn on its own or used as a light layer. The linen is of the best quality <3 There is also the sleeveless gather shirt in the first and fifth pictures by Gallego Desportes. This shirt is also available in navy blue. The raglan shirt in Japanese cotton by Pip Squeak Chapeau is also a wonderful shirt. It has an oversized, comfortable fit. It looks great with skirts and we also love it with jeans. All these pieces are shown with our tie back skirt in white. We have added these whites to our online shop - you can see more here.

Momoca

We are very excited to welcome works by Momoca to our shop. Momoca makes a wide array of beautiful objects and decorations including the incredible candles she has made for our shop, shown above. Using transparent paper, she cuts and hand-paints the flowers and inserts them into the candles. We think they are so stunning and brighten up any room! We show them here with candlesticks by Astier de Villatte- we love the combination of these two handmade objects. We imagine the colors above with matching blue and white table cloths, all white or contrasting colors. We can see them mixed with many different styles.

A bit about the artist - Momoca is an artist based in San Francisco. She has explored many different fields, from millinery and fashion, to painting and ceramics, to photography and art installations. She is currently working with transparent paper to create 2-D and 3-D objects. Her background in pattern making of hats and clothing as well as the Origami all Japanese children learn, inspire her to create imaginative paper installations and decorations. One of our favorite collaborations she routinely works on is with Alice Waters at Chez Panisse making decorations for special events. We think her pieces lift spirits and bring celebration to the everyday.

We have added these to our online shop in the home section, along with the candlesticks. You can have a look here

Repetto <3 We have carried Repetto since my mom and I first started working together almost 16 years ago. This was at the beginning of their introduction to stores in the US - we were so excited about the thought of being able to carry this timeless, elegant shoe with a beautiful history of tradition and savior faire behind what they make. Typically, we carry small designers in our shop, but there are a few things that we believe are wardrobe essentials that can't be improved upon... and for those few exceptions, we will carry a bigger name.  Repetto shoes are at the top of this list -  they are forever classic, versatile, and made with such specialized skill... we can't recommend them enough.

A bit of the history of the brand- Rose Repetto first started making ballet shoes in 1947 and the brand became the go to maker of ballet shoes for prima ballerinas and also students of dance. It was Brigitte Bardot who asked Repetto  to make her a street shoe in 1956 and from there the ballet flat was born. Rose Repetto then established a factory in Dordogne, France where all the dance and street shoes are still made today. As the company grew, a school was opened specifically for teaching the skill of the stitch and return method by which all Repetto ballet dance shoes, ballet flats and jazz shoes are made. It gives the shoes an incredible amount of durability, also perfection in the exacting minimalism of the look of the finished shoe... and of course comfort. With the stitch and return method, the leather is sewn between two soles - giving the shoe the look of a true flat having almost no sole, but in fact there is much more there. They are the most comfortable shoes we have ever worn. We personally wear them every day and can't recommend them enough. We have personal favorites- such as the black patent jazz shoe above, the white jazz shoe and classic black ballet flats. We always love the fun colors they put out each season - the Repetto rainbow. Many of these colors are for one season only and some stay in their permanent collection. We love to mix the fun colors with contrasting socks in the colder months. There are so many ways to wear the different styles and colors - the possibilities are endless. We are forever fans and are so happy to continue offering them at our shop.
